I love the word Kindred, defined as “similar in kind; related.” It’s broad and all-encompassing, reflecting the complex and varied connections within families, rooted in shared love and stories. My inspiration comes from the people I photograph—children, families, and all the relationships between.

I grew up on the south-west coast of England, where southerlies blew in from the Celtic Sea, carrying the salty air I still love. My family spent countless hours fishing and exploring rock pools. Years later, working as a commercial photographer for the New Zealand seafood industry, I returned to sea, photographing whatever emerged from the deep.

 

My iconic seafood imagery has been around for over 25 years. I now create fine art from high-resolution files, capturing fish at the moment they are caught to preserve colour and detail. I hope you enjoy this celebration of the beauty of fish.

I live in Gladstone, Wairarapa, and have been photographing for over thirty years. My work began documenting travel through Canada, Nepal, China, and Turkey, and now focuses on life in the Wairarapa—capturing everyday moments, unposed interactions, sport, and landscapes.

 

Outside photography, I run a small sheep and beef farm, spend time with family, and coach hockey. I am an Accredited NZIPP member, holding a Master with Distinction, and have been named NZIPP Documentary Photographer of the Year in 2024 and 2025.
